In this second half, we will look at how to combat the symptoms of burnout with the goal of enabling you to keep a healthy and positive mindset during the period when you are preparing to make a job or career move. Successfully handling burnout has a great deal to do with your mindset. Keeping a positive attitude can be very challenging during the stressful times when you are dealing with both the symptoms of burnout and the work involved in searching for a new job. The following suggestions are key to maintaining a healthy frame of mind and a healthy body, all of which are crucial during this stressful time. * Exercise! It can't be overstated. Exercising regularly will relieve tension in your body and stress from you mind. It will allow you to think more clearly and it will contribute greatly to a positive mindset. I am always amazed at how much better I feel and how much more energy I have after just 30 minutes of exercise. * Eat foods that are good for you. As with exercise, a healthful diet will keep your body and mind in the best condition as you search for new employment and you will feel good knowing that you are caring for yourself. * Have an outlet for your thoughts and plans. Whether it is a family member, a close friend, or a journal that you keep, having an outlet for your thoughts, both positive and negative, is important to your healthy frame of mind. * Rest. Be sure you are getting plenty of sleep, which will rejuvenate you and enable you to continue performing well at work as you search for other opportunities. * Hobbies. Having an activity you enjoy and do regularly outside of work is important to relaxing your mind. It enables you to refresh yourself by temporarily letting go of the responsibilities you have at work and at home. It also allows you to take pride in the talents and abilities you have apart from your work life. Many of these suggestions are obvious ones that people take for granted and may even have a difficult time putting into place in their lives.
