iMapData sold to its founders Possibly overlooked in the broader news coverage of Reed Elsevierâs http://www.reed-elsevier.com/ proposed acquisiton of Choicepoint http://www.choicepoint.com/ was the latterâs decision to sell iMapData http://www.imapdata.com/ to an investment group led by the companyâs founders. IMapData Inc. is a consulting firm, which specialises in analysing geo-spatial data. Its President and Chief Executive, Laurence DeFranco, said âThis deal enables us to focus on what we do best: provide clients with information, applications and expert analytical advice to address their most important issues.â http://digbig.com/4wqcq. In the same press release the company announced that it plans to expand its range of web-based applications and its library of geo-referenced tools. Its data library covers political, economic, socio-demographic, educational, energy, military, transport, governmental and other infrastructure-related sets of information. Its clients include Fortune 500 companies and US government agencies. Choicepoint originally bought iMapData Inc. in 2004.About this article
