I have written before about the services provided by the British Library Business and IP Centre, but as this is their Global Entrepreneurship Week, it is worth mentioning their new wiki for essential business information (http://digbig.com/5baqws). With more than twenty subject areas of interest to businesses, the wiki, which is still in beta, allows any of the staff, partner organisations or users of the Business and IP centre to add to the body of knowledge on particular subjects. The current hot topics are business planning, grants and finance, intellectual property and marketing and PR. It is to be expected that the Business and IP centre are expert at intellectual property, and there is quite a lot of information in the intellectual property section. Some of the pages are a bit thin as yet, but after all it is still in beta. The public libraries entry, for example, consists of four links to particular public libraries, but does not discuss the help that public libraries can offer to small businesses. At the moment this is little more than a links site, but it has great potential as a useful source for small businesses if people, especially partner organisations, begin to add some descriptive information to each section.
