Content (Articles, Reports and Webinars)

The FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond continues to offer up a bonanza of real-world, research-based resources.

Directly from FreePint Research:

Perspectives from technology vendors:

Perspectives from practitioners:

Still to come: Our in-depth reviews of Factiva and Nexis, plus Q&A on copyright-related concerns on news delivery and usage.

Later in December, we have the final FreePint Webinar in this Topic Series: Right Suppliers, Right Needs: A Competitive Analysis of Suppliers.

In addition to the content in the Topic Series, we've also recently published other articles that support your strategic value in your organisation as a source expert:

If your business is global (and whose isn't?), you may find yourself and your users needing to explore sources in foreign languages or understanding available resources and approaches to conducting research about Scandinavia.

There are more types of information available than ever before: Learn the pros and cons of crowdsourced information as a research tool, and get expert insight on managing the audiovisual assets that might be making their way into your information portfolio.

Project success isn't just about choosing the right content and tools -- it's also about user buy-in. Update your thinking on how to communicate with users to ensure project success.

Community

The final two Communities of Practice for 2014 are coming up quickly:

Both are teleconferences and part of the FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond. If you're thinking about upgrading your FreePint Subscription to the Community level, click a link to register, and we can arrange guest access.

We're in the planning phases for CoPs in early 2015, to include teleconferences and in-person sessions in selected cities. If you're interested in hosting a session at your location, please contact our Director of Research, Robin Neidorf (robin.neidorf@freepint.com).

Consulting

We're currently working with an international firm on a project to reconfigure its information service. Traditionally organised and run as an overhead, the information team has been challenged to create a more strategic role for itself, complete with billing model to have units of the business pay fees to get the right level of value and service.

Our approach with this project is based on a coaching model: The team has the in-house expertise they need to complete the project, but to ensure success, they want regular feedback and an external perspective on the plans as they evolve. A combination of teleconferences, web-based meetings and occasionally in-person sessions will give them what they need, efficiently and at optimised cost.
