Teach Beyond Your Reach: Effective Distance Learning Options

Robin is running a pre-conference workshop on Saturday 13th June, from 8 AM to 12 noon: "Teach Beyond Your Reach: A Train-the-Trainer Workshop".

The workshop focuses on developing effective distance learning options for users.

Asking the right questions about audience, content, format and outcomes are essential to enable you to create and run practical distance learning programmes.

Robin will explore audience learning styles that will help develop new knowledge, and discuss format options for synchronous and asynchronous learning and the best learning outcomes, the right content scope and engagement level, and communication and measurement of outcomes.

She explains, "You and your trainers have subject-matter expertise, use this workshop to translate that expertise into distance learning modules that meet your objectives."

Key Takeaways

  1. Understanding audience: why knowledge of your learning community is critical to the success of your distance learning initiative, and practical ways to understand that audience

  2. Content development: how to "translate" subject-matter expertise into effective training modules and common pitfalls to avoid

  3. Setting and measuring objectives: designing distance learning to achieve specific and measurable objectives.
