Abstract

Participate in our research on private company information as we find out what users' preferred sources, perceptions and unmet needs are. In vendor interviews and articles we look at usage terms, copyright and ebooks. We also highlight a new in-depth review of Factiva as part of the new Topic Series, "News, and Other Commodities", as well as upcoming Communities of Practice focusing on "understanding usage".

Content (Articles, Reports, Webinars)

We have now launched our new Topic Series, "News, and Other Commodities", looking at the concept of "value" when applied to news, company and people information. The series runs from October to December and will be looking at sources covering business, company, financial, industry and people research, so be sure to register for the Series to receive regular updates. FreePint has so far published:

  • FreePint's first piece of research in the new Topic Series is a survey on private company information which looks at preferred sources and perceptions in researching private companies. The survey will be open until 23 October, so take a few minutes to complete it. You will receive a copy of the final report if you participate.
  • In "Trends in Content & Usage Data and Usage Rights", Willem (Bill) Noorlander explains the terms primary and secondary usage and explains how to ensure end-users stay within specific usage guidelines and how to extend these rights if necessary.

FreePint has also published:

FreePint will shortly be launching its 8th annual "FreePint Survey: News Needs and Preferences", so keep an eye out for that too.

If you're interested in sources covering all aspects of private company information, be sure to register for the Topic Series, "News, and Other Commodities" to ensure you receive regular updates and a PDF report containing selected subscription articles upon registration, as well as a copy of the index report at the end.

Community

It's not too late to register for FreePint's in-person Communities of Practice session in London on 4th November, "Understanding Usage - Buyers and Sellers Seeking Alignment". This CoP offers an unmatched opportunity for buyers and sellers to better understand each other's perspectives and plans.

Consulting

Many Consulting-level customers request bespoke sessions for their information teams on understanding and communicating value. We've delivered several in the past few weeks, and although the core content is similar, the outcome is always different. It's fascinating to see the varying directions information centres take these ideas, based on their needs and environment.

A few examples:

  • One team is focusing intently on middle management for its communication efforts over the next six months
  • Another, recently reorganised into a different part of the business, has its work cut out in researching a new group of stakeholders
  • A third, with a newly developed internal customer advisory board, is developing and communicating objectives for that board to make sure all participants get value... and the information centre achieves its goals around value.

Our Content is the broad platform through which we publish research-based insights. Community provides the environment to discuss them with peers. Consulting tailors the insight to your needs. Find the right FreePint Subscription level to meet your needs.
