Sales Intelligence Services Power CRM Insights: A Survey of Six Vendors
23rd July 2013
Over the past several years, sales intelligence products have extended from the desktop into Customer Relationship Management systems. As CRM applications, they deliver prospect insight to sales reps, enhance data quality, and reduce time spent entering data and performing basic research steps. This article introduces the CRM integrations of six vendors: D&B360, Data.com (SFDC), InsideView, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, OneSource iSell, and ZoomInfo.
Maintaining a Healthy Relationship with Your Intranet
19th July 2013
You might imagine that most intranet managers would love their intranets, well I'm here to tell you that in reality that's far from the truth. Many intranet managers will have a love/hate relationship with their intranet. They might love what the intranet offers in terms of functionality, but hate what it looks like - or they might hate the functionality, but love what it looks like. So the question is, how can you maintain a healthy relationship with your intranet?
PharmaTell: A One Stop Shop for Biopharmaceutical Competitive intelligence?
18th July 2013
Researchers in the biotech and pharma field, and particularly those seeking competitive intelligence, should take a look at the PharmaTell database of analyst reports, news, commentary and conference information, says Yulia Aspinall. Reports cover all major biopharma areas, from biosimilars to orphan drugs, and can be searched in a Google-like way.
Getting Law Librarians More Involved in Knowledge Management
17th July 2013
Knowledge management (KM) is a familiar term within the information profession and within law firms. However, whilst librarians in law firms are generally viewed as an essential resource, they are often overlooked when it comes to any involvement with KM initiatives. James Mullan discusses the many opportunities for law librarians to use knowledge management techniques and processes within their library and to become involved in KM projects and client-facing initiatives.
Mobile - Secure, Yes, But Usable Too?
17th July 2013
FreePint's Community of Practice on the challenges of deploying mobile throughout the enterprise couldn’t be more timely. Gartner is predicting that 60% of information workers will be interacting with content using a mobile device by 2015, and Forbes Insights reports that senior executives are increasingly abandoning the traditional PC for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). But the difficulties of navigating small screen devices may partly explain the EPiServer finding that retailers are using mobile more as a means of securing customer loyalty than closing sales. Mobile security remains a growing threat, with Juniper reporting that Androids are especially targeted - although the Forbes respondents remain far more concerned about usability.
Investigating News Aggregation: Why?
15th July 2013
Today's information ocean is a very different environment from that of just five years ago when FreePint started formally surveying news needs and preferences... and very different from the 1990s focus on copyright compliance and the one vendor, global content policy. Robin Neidorf examines what information buyers want from news aggregation today - and whether it's actually information aggregation that they're seeking.
Showing Your Support with Social Media
15th July 2013
It has come to my attention that recently there was a tennis Grand Slam held in the UK, where the men's singles was won by the first British player in 77 years. Whilst Murray's Wimbledon win is cause to celebrate (at least in the UK) what does this have to do with managing information or using social media? James Mullan demonstrates how showing your support via Twitter or Facebook has become the norm.
Investigating News Aggregation: What Content, From Whom?

The upcoming FreePint Series: News Needs in the Enterprise: Beyond Aggregation, starting in October, will examine the issues in greater detail.
The Joy of Brokers' Reports: An Underestimated Resource
12th July 2013
Analyst and broker reports are a rich source of reliable financial and strategic information on publicly traded companies, explains Yulia Aspinall. She outlines why information professionals should use the reports when carrying out competitive intelligence, market research or financial analysis projects.
Does Yammer Now Have More Klout?
11th July 2013
Last week Yammer announced that it was integrating Klout scores within its enterprise social network. Whilst this is just one of a number of new integration points that Yammer has introduced since it was acquired by Microsoft, it's definitely one of the most interesting. On the face of it, displaying users' online influence seems a very sensible move by Yammer. But is displaying Klout scores behind the firewall really such a good idea?
