Abstract

Jinfo has interviewed David Seuss, CEO of Northern Light, about how the company intends to use their very recent investment from LoneTree Capital.

In this Blog item, I cover a bit about what it means for their clients and their vision for the future, and provide links to video highlights from the discussion, and the full recording.

Private equity investments are a "red flag" for information managers.

Indeed, I know some information managers who will actively seek to move away from suppliers, rather than deal with difficult negotiations and higher prices.

I chatted with David Seuss, CEO of Northern Light, about what $23m of funding from LoneTree Capital means for the company – how they intend to use the investment and how it will impact their clients.

During the discussion, David explained why LoneTree Capital is a good fit for Northern Light:

"There's investors that focus on growth equity, this is what LoneTree does. They invest in the company to expand the product lines, the staff and the sales and marketing. They make their return over the long term by building a bigger company."

David explained how Northern Light plans to:

  • grow their business
  • acquire new talent
  • improve the client experience
  • enable new engineering projects (they already have almost 100 improvements in their queue)
  • develop taxonomies and text analytics to complement AI functions
  • respond better to clients requests and suggestions.

Extracts from the discussion are available in this Jinfo YouTube video, or view the full webinar "What will new outside investment mean for Northern Light?" (as part of a Jinfo Subscription).
