What did we think?
Jinfo's new "Product review of Factiva Smart Summary" reveals a useful tool, which is a valuable addition to the classic way of searching and using Factiva content.
Factiva Smart Summary offers new ways of using Factiva content, with prompting, summarising and highlighting of the most relevant articles. It also enables users to create tailor-made newsletters.
Smart Summary is a solid first-generation AI tool. But, it lacks many of the features you will find in the likes of ChatGPT or Perplexity.
A free-text prompt gives replies based on selected articles from almost 5,000 sources, from a five year archive.
It complements the classic way of searching and using Factiva content.
Mitigating the risk of using Factiva content with AI
Smart Summary users are assured that all the content used by the AI is appropriately licensed, and the model has been adjusted to reduce hallucination, conflation and fabrication.
As an AI-summarisation tool, its main benefit is in saving users the time associated with reading all the articles available from Factiva's curated content.
Conversations with Jinfo Subscribers reveal that they want to use Factiva content within their own AI tools.
So, it will be interesting to see how Factiva Smart Summary will be received and how it will evolve in the future.
