Israel updates its Copyright Law

Israel’s copyright laws have been long overdue for a complete reform given that the underlying legislation has been the English Copyright Act of 1911 and the Copyright Ordinance of 1924. There have been a number of amendments in the intervening years but nothing as comprehensive as the new Israeli Copyright Law introduced in May. Many of the principles of prior law have been maintained but important changes have been made to include the use of new (that is, Internet-based) technologies in the distribution of copyrighted material.
