Content and AI – key findings from Jinfo's recent research
Jinfo Blog
21st July 2026
Abstract
Over the past months, Jinfo has explored one of the biggest questions facing information managers:
"How do we create real business value from trusted content in an AI world?"
Our research began with licensing, but quickly became about something much bigger:
"How can information professionals help their organisations reduce risk by securing trusted information, governing its use, and enabling AI to deliver reliable business value?"
Item
Here are the themes that have emerged, with links to Jinfo reports that detail the findings:
- AI is changing the economics of content.
Traditional licensing models are being challenged, as organisations move from search-based workflows to AI-generated answers. Publishers, aggregators and enterprise users are all adapting - but not always at the same speed.
Read these Jinfo reports:
- Governance only works when users understand it.
Organisations are moving beyond policies, towards practical guidance, workflow-based learning and information literacy, to help end users make better decisions.

- Trusted information is becoming AI infrastructure.
The conversation is no longer simply about buying content. Organisations are beginning to recognise that high-quality, governed information underpins reliable AI, better decisions and operational value.
- Enterprise AI is reshaping the supplier ecosystem.
Content providers are redesigning licensing models around business use cases, rights management and enterprise integration, while aggregators are strengthening their role by bringing trusted content from thousands of publishers into enterprise AI environments.

One conclusion stands out across all of this research:
Successful AI initiatives depend less on the AI itself and more on the quality of the information, governance and business context that surround it.
Our next research focus builds on this foundation:
Rather than asking whether organisations should use AI, we'll explore how to identify, prioritise and communicate AI use cases that create business value.
