Plunkett Research (http://www.plunkettresearch.com/), the affordable online market and industry information service was the subject of a VIP Review earlier this year. (see http://www.vivavip.com/go/e28014 for a Livewire posting on the review or go to http://web.vivavip.com/go/shop/report/1598 to purchase the full report). A re-visit to the site has revealed some new features, which will be of use to information professionals. Plunkett Research, a Houston-based print and online publisher, probably best known for its industry almanacs, has embraced the marketing potential of social networking tools for a while. The companyâs Facebook and Twitter pages (see http://digbig.com/5bbwyt and http://twitter.com/PlunkettOnline ) are followed by around 200 people. Now, Plunkett Research has added 18 industry specific videos to its YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/plunkettresearch#p/u), with CEO Jack Plunkett explaining industry trends and highlights for a variety of sectors. These range from nanotechnology to real estate, engineering, the automotive industry and e-commerce. One of the points highlighted by the Product Review was the serviceâs bias towards the US in its sector and company coverage. I was therefore interested to see that recent reports include overviews of the Global Engineering and Consulting sectors. It would be good to see more global reports on other industries. A 10-minute tutorial on how to get the most out of Plunkettâs online facility has also been added, and is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The plan is to eventually post videos with trend information on all 32 industry sectors currently covered by Plunkett.About this article
