Content (Articles, Reports and Webinars)

For those paying attention to changes in the world of social media monitoring, further analysis of the potential for Vocus and Cision to join forces will make for interesting reading.

And for those who get their news from more traditional resources, the latest updates to sources in NexisEuropresse/Eureka and Factiva are now available.

Competitive intelligence is a distinct speciality, but many researchers and generalists are being asked to participate in its application:

CI isn't the only adjacent skill you may find yourself being asked to develop: a FreePint customer recently asked which of our content would be most helpful in developing a knowledge management function; I developed a bibliography of practical and useful FreePint articles and reports on the topic of KM

Information work overlaps with concerns about user behaviour around information sharingbig data"Bring Your Own ID" (BYOID) and other topics in technology, security and user behaviour. FreePint's contributors and analysts bring you their take on these critical topics to keep you part of the strategic discussions in your organisations.

FreePint Subscription at the Content level gives access to all FreePint articles, reports and webinars.

Community

A full day of Communities of Practice sessions in London on 13 May kept the air in Canary Wharf buzzing with fresh ideas:

  • Over 20 information managers took over two hours from their busy mornings to take a strategic look at how they can develop, foster and even lead meaningful discussion on their organisations about value - that hard-to-define yet critical element of investing in information products, services and skills
  • The lunch session brought together vendor representatives, to consider their role in the triangle of "buyer-seller-user" - we realised early in the discussion that information managers and vendors share objectives around what they need to know about users
  • Finally, the afternoon session enabled information managers and vendors to speak frankly with each other in a confidential environment about a topic much of everyone's lips but rarely discussed in detail: what are the limits of transparency in buyer-seller relationships?

We're considering carefully how to cultivate further buyer-seller discussions as part of our Community offering. A comment from participant Louise Green, group marketing manager for Bureau van Dijk, expressed beautifully our aim in doing so: "It was really useful to get so much input from customers and hear their perspective - I have come into the office this morning full of things covered in the discussion and thinking about how we can learn from, and apply, what was shared."

FreePint Subscription at the Community level gives access to all FreePint Communities of Practice as well as all FreePint Content.

Consulting

Several Consulting projects are currently in development or underway, including a new market study on buying patterns for UK law firms. This picks up and deepens research FreePint conducted and published in 20102011 and 2013. Portions of the upcoming study will be published as part of our Content offering.

FreePint can develop bespoke consulting off any of our standard research efforts; if you're interested in developing a specific perspective on any of our reviews, market studies, insights or strategic tools, please contact our director of research, Robin Neidorf, directly at robin.neidorf@freepint.com.

FreePint Subscription at the Consulting level adds a credit for up to six hours of consulting time per year.

If you are considering starting a new FreePint Subscription, see the overview video and order form.
