As part of the "News, and Beyond" FreePint Topic Series, Andrew Lucas has undertaken an in-depth review of LexisNexis Publisher, a professional current awareness tool which seeks to bring together the in-depth search capabilities of LexisNexis together with a wide range of internal and external content and multiple distribution capabilities.

LexisNexis Publisher is a professional current awareness tool which is designed to allow administrators or editors in organisations to curate customised content from internal and external sources, such as RSS feeds, together with premium content from LexisNexis, web news and social media. Publisher is used equally by law firms and corporates.

Interest in Publisher has been further stimulated by the recent acquisition of Moreover Technologies by LexisNexis. Moreover's Newsdesk is a competing product to Publisher, but whereas Newsdesk is very strong in web content and social media, Publisher's real strength lies in the LexisNexis premium content. The convergence of these products throws up some intriguing possibilities.
