Most people probably have their favourite sources that they check on a regular basis; but is this sufficient? How do you know you’re not missing anything? You can’t possibly read every newspaper, magazine, specialist interest publication, blog post, newsletter or opinion.

As a result, the U.S. Census Bureau would cease data collection for the Statistical Compendia program. The Nebraska Library Commission through its NCompass Live weekly online series, presented a webinar with James Shaw, “Learning to Live Without a Statistical Abstract”.

This month I had the privilege of speaking at two library events. The first was a remarkable response to a lack of budget for employee travel. The New York Public Library system employs hundreds of librarians. Thus, it isn't a great surprise that it can't afford to send many of them to conferences and educational events.
