FreePint Newsletter No.409

Editorial

Robin NeidorfAs a researcher, there's nothing quite as exciting to me as sharing insights and then working out their practical implications with smart people. As this Newsletter is being sent, I'm doing just that, through a series of in-person Communities of Practice in Europe:

  • Monday this week (20th October) we've partnered with Thomson Reuters Legal UK to deliver a workshop to some of their top customers, to explore with them what the concept of "value" means today in law firms as they grow and become even more sophisticated in their consumption of content products.

  • Tuesday we're running a brand-new Communities of Practice session in London, as part of the FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond. "The Value of News, for Awareness and Research" brings together the research we've been conducting annually for seven years on news content products, combined with our competitive market analysis of the service providers, our curriculum on defining and measuring value, and the one-on-one and small-group work we've conducted with customers on the news sector since mid-2013.

  • Also on Tuesday, we host a combined group of content buyers and content vendors, in "Visibility and Value for End Users". Our unique buyer-seller CoP sessions offer unmatched opportunity for confidential, facilitated and research-based dialogue between these stakeholder groups on critical subjects of mutual interest.

  • Off to Amsterdam after that, where on Thursday we're offering our popular "Determining, Discussing and Measuring Value" session with European information managers, who will no doubt present different perspectives and priorities with regard to the concept of "value" than we normally hear in the UK or North America.

  • And Thursday afternoon, we'll repeat "The Value of News, for Research and Awareness".

These sessions all filled quickly. So, if you're thinking of joining us in New York City on 10th November for The Value of News, for Awareness and Research or Visibility and Value to End Users, and you have a Community-level FreePint Subscription or higher, please register as soon as possible.

There are other ways to engage with FreePint:

  • Free registration for the FreePint Topic Series: News, and Beyond will get you a free report today, updates from our series co-producers, and another free report at the end of the series in December.

  • If your organisation has at least one premium (paid for) subscription to a content supplier of news, you are eligible to participate in our Seventh Annual FreePint Survey: News Needs and Preferences 2014. Simply provide an email address at the end of the survey, and you'll receive a free copy of the full analysis of our results (be aware: the survey is long, but the results are robust).

  • Finally, we're preparing a reader survey of subjects you'd like us to cover in 2015, so please watch for the invitation to participate.

... and never hesitate to reach out to us at any time with your suggestions, kudos or complaints.
