Abstract

EMIS Professional specialises in providing business intelligence on emerging markets. It has evolved from EMISPro with significant redesign including a new user interface and improvements to navigation and functionality.

This review:

  • Introduces EMIS Professional and how it has changed since Jinfo's review of its last iteration (EMISPro) in January 2014

  • Looks at how the product is designed to help overcome road blocks to working with emerging markets, such as poor corporate accounting and lack of understanding of local business practices

  • Describes the jobs and segments it is targeted at, from credit analysts to business development teams

  • Explains how it provides value to both users seeking information on developed markets as well as emerging markets

  • Looks at the wide range of emerging markets content available in the product, which includes news, industry reports, economic and country data as well as an extensive collection of company data on over 125 emerging markets

  • Reviews the reorganisation of the content following its redesign, and how company data, industry coverage and news coverage is collected and added to its own research and data collection, ensuring proprietary and third-party content is included

  • Puts to the test some of the recent improvements to the structure of the product around companies, industries and countries, and looks at how it has improved navigation

  • Tries out the new user interface design and outputs

  • Reviews languages, including Czech and Turkish, and the regional split of sources across emerging markets in Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America

  • Takes a detailed look at company, industry and country analysis

  • Outlines the competitor landscape, including Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters Eikon, S&P Global Market Intelligence and the big content aggregators

  • Covers help functions which are available throughout the product

  • Highlights likely future developments and pricing strategy.
