Abstract

Jinfo looked at PatSeer Premier, a global patent database and research platform with integrated analytics and collaboration capabilities, a few years ago and in this product review we take an in-depth look at PatSeer Pro from Gridlogics, a web-based patent analytics and landscaping platform, used by anyone with an interest in patents, such as patent searchers, law firms, and IP professionals.

This review:

  • Introduces parent company Gridlogics and an overview of its product offerings, pinpoints the target audience, key advantages of the product, and provides contact details as well as introducing ReleSense, an AI-driven NLP engine built for patent and scientific literature and Gridlogic's newest offering

  • Looks at its coverage, including full-text collections, how the content is organised as well as the range of languages available

  • Puts the platform's technology to the test, with a comprehensive analysis of PatSeer Pro's interface and search features along with its visualisation tool, VizMAP

  • Offers an in-depth look at the platform's wide range of search functionality, including command line search, number and semantic search and looks at how you can view results and share data

  • Considers help and support, describes elements that help users get the best out of the product and also some interesting recent developments that involve semantic search and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to enhance the platform

  • Explains the pricing structure and identifies competitors including the likes of Clarivate's Derwent Innovation and Analytics, Minesoft PatBase, LexisNexis TotalPatent One, and Questel's Orbit Intelligence

  • Gives an appraisal of the platform overall, highlighting areas that our reviewer particularly liked and those that could be improved.
