A recent issue of Journal of Financial Regulations and Compliance offers comment on the Northern Rock crisis. One article explains and analyses the reasons behind Northern Rockâs need to turn to the Bank of England for a liquidity lifeline in the face of what was turning into large-scale public panic. Another article scrutinises the role of the government in responding to financial market distress and offer recommendations for reform. Both articles are written by academics. Kevin Keasey and Gianluca Veronesi of Leeds University Business School were the authors of âLessons from the Northern Rock affairâ. âThe sub-prime crisis, the credit squeeze and Northern Rock: the lessons to be learnedâ was written by Maximillian J. B. Hall of Loughborough Universityâs Department of Economics. David T. Llewellyn of Loughborough University wrote âThe Northern Rock crisis: a multi-dimensional problem waiting to happenâ. A forthcoming issue of the Journal will investigate the causes, consequences and implications of the global credit crunch and the editor, Professor Kevin Keasey, is inviting authors to submit articles on the topic.
