Information Management company EBSCO (http://www.ebsco.com) recently announced a couple of new noteworthy additions to its product portfolio. Yesterday, EMpact Sales, the publisher representation group belonging to EBSCO announced a partnership with East View Information Services (http://www.eastview.com), a provider of information products from Russia, China and Eurasia. Under the deal, EMpact will represent East View in regions such as North Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, where it had not achieved market coverage until now (http://digbig.com/4ypmk. This crucially will provide business information researchers and scholars in those parts of the world with access to news, statistics and regulatory and corporate data on hard-to-find geographies and markets. Typical content includes annual reports of Japanese companies, census data from Russia and China and terrain analysis of Afghanistan. A few days ago, EBSCO’s EMpact Sales also announced a partnership with e-libro (http://www.e-libro.com), an Argentina-based provider of Spanish language e-content to public, academic and private corporate libraries. Under the agreement, EMpact will promote e-libro’s database of 30,000 books, journals, articles and theses in South and Central America, as well as Cuba. (http://digbig.com/4ypmm). EBSCO’s marketing clout is able to help publishers target territories they would have difficulty accessing otherwise, and in this case is contributing towards e-libro’s rather poetic company slogan ‘the socialization of knowledge’: according to company literature, it was the founder Eduardo Varela’s aim to allow individuals equal access to knowledge.
