Item

Content (Articles, Reports and Webinars)

We've been busy with product reviews of late; here are the latest:

Coming soon are reviews of Infomart, Lexis Advance, Linex Systems, Fastcase, and LexisNexis PatentAdvisor. And the first part of the Solcara review has just been published.

We've also just published the FreePint Report: Making Information Visible, which indexes all the content published in the Topic Series of the same name that ran from January - March 2015.

To finish our wrap-up of the series, we're offering a short webinar on "What We Learned" on several days throughout May. For a practical overview of our research findings, including what steps you can take to improve the visibility of information to end users, register for your choice of session.

The current Topic Series, "Best Practices in Information Skills Development", has produced a handful of initial articles, which can be found on the Topic Category page

Three webinars in this series have also been scheduled:

All webinars are included in the FreePint Subscription, but seats are limited, so register soon.

In addition to the diverse content resources developed for Topic Series and in product reviews, we're delighted to be contributing to industry knowledge through one of the first surveys of ebook adoption and usage in corporate settings.

Full survey results and related resources about vendors and licensing models will be published later in May, but the first article, on corporate adoption, and the second, on the vendor marketplace, have been published.

Community

Two new Communities of Practice (CoP) sessions have been scheduled as part of the Topic Series, "Best Practices in Information Skills Development":

Both are planned as teleconference sessions, and we're also looking at the summer months for possible in-person sessions in London, New York, Chicago and other cities. If you'd be interested in providing a meeting space for an in-person CoP session, please contact our director of research, Robin Neidorf, at robin.neidorf@freepint.com.

Consulting

Our work with customers on the concept of "value" as applied to information products and services has evolved over the past few years. We've completed several projects and have others underway to work with information centre staff to articulate their purpose in the organisation, and then connect that purpose with meaningful metrics based on the needs of different parts of the business.

Now we're taking that work a step further, by developing bespoke workshops that enable information professionals and internal clients to work together on what they jointly mean by "value". These sessions create a shared vocabulary around the role of information in driving desired business outcomes. We can provide one for you.

Find out more about a FreePint Subscription, which at the Content level gives access to all FreePint articles, reports and webinars, at the Community level gives access to all FreePint Communities of Practice (as well as all FreePint Content), and at the Consulting level adds a credit for up to six hours of annual consulting time.
