Content (Articles, Reports, Webinars)

We're now over halfway through the FreePint Topic Series, "News, and Other Commodities". Since our last Subscription Update we've published a number of articles plus original research:

  • Business information consultant, Colin Smith, shares his knowledge of researching developing economies in "Insider Knowledge - Researching East Africa". He focuses on Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania & Uganda, covering areas ranging from cultural differences to company structures and highlights key sources of information published in local languages and in English.
  • Read the FreePint Survey into Web Usage Policies which explores the objectives for web policies, how staff are made aware of the policies, what happens if they violate them, and which department is responsible for setting them. The research also digs into the impact of web policies on business research and provides a set of next steps for information professionals responsible for raising awareness of the importance and role of these policies which are set to be ever-more essential as our dependence on the web increases.
  • Changing from a major supplier of information and news to another is a daunting prospect. In "Making a Big Switch, Changing Supplier", Robin Neidorf interviewed information managers who've been through the process to ask them what advice they'd pass on to others.

FreePint Webinars have also been scheduled as part of the series:

Other articles and Q&As recently published include:

Community

Last month's Communities of Practice (CoP) sessions on "Understanding Usage: Buyers and Suppliers Seek Alignment" generated a huge amount of interest, but not everyone could get to new York or London where they were held. We've added a teleconference session on the same subject, scheduled for this Thursday, 19th November. Learn more and register.

As part of the Topic Series, "News, and Other Commodities", we have a teleconference CoP session scheduled for December: "The End of an Era for News Databases?" If you've been wondering about the viability of news databases and what continuing change in the sector might mean for your organisation, join this teleconference Communities of Practice session on the 1st or 3rd December.

Consulting

Many information managers have been considering or have already developed customer advisory boards of some form within their organisations. Sometimes they are developed around specific needs, such as reducing content budget, and sometimes around strategic planning for the role of value of information in the success of the business.

FreePint is helping several Consulting level customers develop or improve their advisory board programmes for 2016. We'll be sharing suggestions and tips in future articles, but if you'd like direct assistance or have questions, please contact our director of research, Robin Neidorf, robin.neidorf@freepint.com.

Our Content is the broad platform through which we publish research-based insights. Community provides the environment to discuss them with peers. Consulting tailors the insight to your needs. Find the right FreePint Subscription level to meet your needs.
