FreePint Newsletter No.427

Editorial

Robin NeidorfIn today's world, information professionals need to juggle both "big picture" thinking and planning, along with nitty-gritty details on such areas as content licensing.

That's what came to mind today when I looked at our upcoming webinar listings, including:

  • Corporate Market for Ebooks: A Look at the Research: If your need to incorporate this content format is growing, this session will help you understand what's happening in the market, how to sort out what vendors offer, and what variables seem to matter to users.

  • What We Learned about Information Skills Development: These 20-minute overview sessions are the most efficient way to get up to speed on the key findings of our last Topic Series, and build a plan for changing the nature of dialogue in your organisation about workforce readiness.

In well-resourced information centres, staff have the luxury of being able to divide out these areas of focus. Members of staff who are good at systems-wide thinking and planning get to work on the big picture, whilst those who prefer to cross the t's and dot the i's can do so to their heart's content.

FreePint produces resources to help with both the details and the big picture. Attending to the full spectrum means we produce a lot of resources, and sometimes it's hard to keep track of what matters to you. We're constantly working to make it easier, but these are my best tips right now:

  • Read the "FreePint for..." your industry, like the most recent one published for biopharma. We also email these to customers, with a reminder that you can login to view any content -- and share it -- as part of your FreePint Subscription.

  • Check out the twice-monthly Subscription Updates, such as the most recent one highlighted in this newsletter. It's a handy update of what we've produced most recently.

  • Register for Topic Series, like the one we just started on "All About Usage". Topic Series are the practical result of our research on critical topics in our industry, and the updates you'll receive as part of your registration will guide you to and through the latest resources.
