Abstract

Altarama's RefTracker is a browser-based solution for managing reference and information requests. It focuses on request management operations and can easily customise forms and workflows to align with its clients' needs and challenges. Its clients are based all over the world but are primarily those within an organisation with a library request function, including those working in national and state libraries, museum and archive services, federal and regulatory services, as well as a host of corporate clients in sectors such as banking and finance, defence, energy, healthcare, insurance, law, manufacturing, media, pharma and publishing.

We take a comprehensive look at the product to find out what's changed since we reviewed it last year.

This review:

  • Introduces the company and product along with its value to users

  • Looks at the wide range of sources that can be incorporated into the product, and how clients make use of its API

  • Explores its search capabilities, and how users can ask and answer questions and create a knowledge database

  • Highlights in detail what has changed in the product since our last full product review last year, including improvements to the user interface and enhanced functionality, specifically the addition of proximity relevance searching

  • Reviews the range of outputs, including a wide variety of reports

  • Looks at the competitive environment, which includes Priory Solution's Quest, Lucidea's Sydney Enterprise, Inmagic Presto, and Softlink's illumin

  • Explores the product roadmap for the coming year and beyond

  • Outlines the pricing options available.
