Where I live in Minnesota, we've been coping with a deep freeze, which makes it that much more enjoyable to start thinking about this year's SLA Annual Conference, scheduled for June in sunny San Diego.
It can be difficult to budget time and money to attend events like this, despite their enormous value for learning, networking and staying in tune with the emerging topics of the industry. SLA Europe makes an effort to ease the difficulty for a few information professionals, with its Early Career Conference Awards. This year, four awards will be given jointly with the Leadership & Management, Business & Finance, Legal, and Pharmaceutical & Health Technology divisions.
The awards cover conference registration, travel and hotel expenses to attend the annual conference.
Interested professionals in their first five years post-degree and current students in an LIS programme who have never been to an SLA annual conference are encouraged to review the application guidelines and submit an application by 15 February 2013.
