Discovery systems can be a real boon for libraries and information centres who want to direct their users to fast and accurate search results through one interface and towards high quality, research-led content.

We were keen to review Primo from Ex Libris following the company's merger with ProQuest in late 2015 and to find out the impact of the new organisation on Primo and fellow discovery product, ProQuest Summon.

Just reviewed by Jinfo (Subscriber content), Primo Ex Libris is an index-based discovery system. It is used across 150 countries, by more than 2,250 organisations, including academia, corporate, public and schools.

One experience across all devices

In Jinfo's review, Sophie Alexander puts Primo Ex Libris to the test and describes the technology behind creating a single unified index of more than 1 billion scholarly materials.

She also considers the new user interface, advanced exploration and customisation options and is particularly impressed with the way Primo allows libraries to highlight their valuable local content.

And of course, users increasingly want to be able to search from any location, using any device. Primo Ex Libris is cloud-based and supports a user-friendly search experience no matter whether you're using a laptop, phone or desktop.
