Abstract

Elsevier's Reference Module in Food Science is put under the microscope by Jinfo's reviewer in the just-published "Mini review of ScienceDirect Reference Module in Food Science". One of the key questions considered is: what's its value for information professionals and non-specialists?

Item

Elsevier released the Reference Module in Food Science on its ScienceDirect platform in December 2015. One of five Reference Modules, it hosts purely Elsevier content.

Jinfo has just carried out a mini review of the Food Science module (Subscriber content).

Flexibility

One bonus is that individual articles can be purchased instead of a full subscription.

This and other features make this a flexible platform and one certainly worth checking out for information professionals and students alike.

Reviewer Sarah Hinton writes, "At launch the module had around 2,100 articles, but this has risen to over 2,500. New content is regularly added and every article is reviewed by an editorial board made up of experts across the food science spectrum."

Articles range from meat sciences to food microbiology and agriculture.

Consider the "free layer"

Our "Mini review of ScienceDirect Reference Module in Food Science" will guide you through the key features of the Food Science module while also taking a look at its possible value in various markets.

We recommend checking out the "free layer" which is written by specialist subject editors and is designed to give a taster of the platform content.
