As director of research for Jinfo, I have two main tasks in the last months of 2016:

  1. Reflect on the urgent topics that emerged over the previous 12 months
  2. Plan for the big projects of early 2017.

Urgent topics

Every information service, if it is to thrive, must cement its position as a strategic asset to the business, rather than a transaction centre.

This is the most urgent topic of 2016. It was reflected and examined throughout all four of the Research Focus areas we covered this year, and highlighted in the opening editorials for the Insights & Actions report from each:

If you have not yet looked at the Insights & Actions reports, I urge you to use the links above to request yours today. The questions they raise and answers they suggest provide excellent fodder for strategic planning for the coming year.

Big projects for 2017

We're kicking off the new year with major consulting projects, focused on moving from transactions to strategy, with:

  • A central bank
  • An international industry association
  • One of the main global accounting consultancies
  • Several vendors of products and services for the information industry

... and that's in addition to our usual programme of research and publishing.

To help us support this work, we've expanded the team with some terrific new hires of talented professionals who bring new perspectives and skills to Jinfo.

We want your Jinfo Subscription to be an essential component of how your organisation maximises information expertise, putting it at the strategic centre of the business. If you want ideas or support for how to make that happen in 2017, contact me.

See you in the New Year.
