Ever felt that your organisation does not appreciate the value you provide as an information professional? Well, all you need to do is follow Scott Brown’s very practical suggestions and carry out OrgIntel, This is all about finding the influencers and conversations in your organisation and then, coupled with a willingness to increase your visibility, you can get involved in the discussions and anticipate information needs.
What's Inside:
Organisational intelligence, or “OrgIntel”, is about finding, and actively pursuing, the key groups and stakeholders you, as information professionals, need to connect with in your organisation so that you can demonstrate the value of what you do. It’s not quite stalking – but it’s the next best thing. There are four components of the concept of OrgIntel: searching for clues; finding the pulse; beyond the organisation chart; and visibility and openness. Through practising OrgIntel, and participating in the discussions in our organisations, we raise our visibility, become more closely aligned to our organisations’ true needs, and open ourselves up to addressing those needs more actively.
