The evolution of SharePoint

Many speculate that Microsoft's purchase of Yammer as well recent influx of search-centred add on products for SharePoint will improve the user-experience of this tool. Certainly, one wonders if these changes will really make a difference in how SharePoint is perceived amongst law firms, where SharePoint usage has become almost ubiquitous.

A number of sources have reported that Microsoft is very close to purchasing the enterprise social network Yammer for approximately £1.2 billion. Although not officially announced the purchase of Yammer by Microsoft would certainly make sense, given some of the challenges when using Microsoft's flagship internal collaboration tool SharePoint.

Some tensions may persist in perpetuity. Consider that between sagacious seasoned veterans and, say, kids today. There's no end of research that demonstrates, for example, how different the work ethic (or at least generational perception of it) is between older and younger workers. It might be easy to write off youth as having short attention spans, but the message must mind the medium as we address evolving technological and information needs.

Instead of an entire article or report, oftentimes it comes down to finding one or two sentences in lengthy publications to help disprove an invention’s novelty.
