Key Relationships: IT, Procurement, Legal, HR
Jinfo Community
18th May 2016
Description
Twenty years ago, an information centre was likely to manage its own negotiations and contracts, project-manage implementations and handle user training. Today, if that centre still exists, its staff are regularly working with (or trying to avoid) colleagues in specialist departments like IT, procurement, legal, and human resources, to name but a few.
It's always difficult to develop close working relationships with colleagues who have a very different perspective on the world than we do. But to make the most of your information expertise in your organisation, fostering and deepening these key relationships contributes to the best possible result.
Understand Colleagues in Partner Departments
This session will offer a "primer" of common configurations of these partner departments - which can be more complex and nuanced than an outsider might expect. We'll discuss examples of the exponential benefits attained when these key relationships are healthy and strong (not the least of which is that your expertise is brought into projects appropriately and effectively).
And of course, we'll also offer tips for analysing and improving difficult relationships.
Cement Relationships
Key relationships are the responsibility of every information expert - join the discussion, then bring the learning back to the rest of your team.
Community sessions are open to any organisation with a Jinfo Subscription at the Community level or higher. When your registration is approved, you will receive details to login to the teleconference.
