Abstract

Our in-depth product review of Factiva, Dow Jones' premium news aggregation service looks at how this global news database and research platform has evolved since our last full review two years ago and how it is tackling issues such as use of content for data analytics and better access to news via mobile.

This review:

  • Introduces Dow Jones and Factiva and highlights the value the product offers

  • Looks at the range of content available in traditional and social media through the global news aggregation service, including special content and geographical coverage. New content added since the last Factiva review is also covered

  • Examines functionality, including search tools, author tracking, output features and DNA Streams and Snapshots, launched this year. Also assesses the the various news pages which can be tailored to display content according to each user's needs

  • Covers new features such as additions to Factiva Intelligent Indexing

  • Concludes with a general overview of product development and what future changes we can expect over the next few years

  • It also covers licensing plans, pricing, and direct competitors such as Nexis, and a range of providers who offer a narrower range of sources, including FirstRain, Acquire Media's NewsEdge and Silobreaker.
