Newsletter 639

2nd April 2026

Anja ThygesenWhat a month! March really brought a sense of spring energy to Jinfo and the wider community.

We've been continuing the conversation on how AI is being applied in practice, including the important questions around managing AI and licensing.

Learnings from our focus on Teams and AI

Our new report "Team roles and AI: priorities for information leaders" explores how expectations of information professionals are evolving:

  1. A more consultative role
  2. Information teams shaping AI use
  3. New ways of organising teams
  4. Skills that matter in an AI environment.

Read the report and a summary on the Jinfo Blog.

At the same time there is a clear paradox: while AI promises efficiency, it is often increasing demand – particularly through verification, validation and facilitation.

Our second new report offers "Six ways AI is reshaping workload, expectations and responsibility for information leaders", which is also summarised on the blog.

From insight to practice: conversations within the Jinfo community

Several themes have been brought to life through our community during the month of March.

We had a very insightful and unique live demo of BASF's AI-enhanced knowledge platform, which integrates both internal and external knowledge on one platform.

If you haven't read it yet, see the Jinfo report "How to develop a proprietary knowledge and information management platform" with many tips on building such a system yourself.

The demo was the perfect lead-in to our focus on licensed content and AI.

This was explored at our co-hosted in-person event with the Financial Times, "Licensing the Future", at their headquarters in London, UK. Read about it (and see photos) on the Blog.

We'll be reporting in detail soon, alongside last month's fabulous Jinfo Community session "Licensed content and AI".

The key takeaway from all sessions in March is clear:

"Within our community and across the wider industry – and most importantly, between vendors and end-users – we need to keep the conversation going."

As we move into April, we will continue this conversation and research in the Community session "Training users in AI" (register now).

A warm farewell

So, we mark Stephen Phillips' final chapter at Jinfo on a real high. We thank him very much for his many contributions and wish him all the very best for his retirement.

And, as always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions about the areas we should be researching.

"Training users in AI"
23rd April 2026
Jinfo Community

Managing how end users interact with data and AI in practice – not just in theory – is challenging, and needs to be approached carefully to support users without creating a sense of policing.

This session will take a hands-on approach to how we guide, educate, and support users in working with AI and licensed content.

We'll explore practical, real-world scenarios such as:

  • "I have 10 articles – now what?"
Turning everyday tasks into opportunities to teach effective (and responsible) AI use

  • From use case to guidance
How do we translate policies into clear, usable instructions for end users?

  • What does "good output" look like?
Helping users assess, question, and improve AI-generated results

  • Scaling learning
Moving from one-off demos to embedded, repeatable user practices.

Register for this Jinfo Community session to discuss these issues and explore potential solutions.

Here is some feedback from a recent Jinfo Community session from an attendee:

"The open forum in which other professionals can contribute their impressions/additional insights is very useful."
